Objectives

The GEOTOPIA Programme has been designed in such a way so that it may contribute, on the one hand, to promoting and protecting the geological and natural heritage, which is the comparative advantage of the two territories, and, on the other, to their mild development (geotourism) based on the principles of sustainable development. 

Furthermore, projects and actions planned through GEOTOPIA aim at:

• Promoting scientific research, environmental education and information;
• Sustainable financial growth with the promotion of geotourism and other related alternative tourism activities;
• Achieving the inclusion of both areas into the Networks of European Geoparks and UNESCO.
